Chicago Beer Runners
|
The Chicago Beer Runners This meetup is brand spanking new and under development. Looking for fun, social runners who are interested in meeting other fellow runners for a few weekly runs followed by a cold beverage or more thereafter. All abilities from beginner to experienced welcome. The idea is to meet at Schoolyard Tavern & Grill (intersection of School / Southport in Lakeview) a few times per week (come to one or all runs) hit the road and meetup back at the tavern to celebrate our run and 'hydrate'. I'm envisioning various distance/pace groups, group training and travel to local races, group shirts and other gear...etc. Who knows, skies the limit - lets get creative and have some fun with our running. This will get much more structured as we develop this group 'together'.

Our next meeting:
Wednesday Night Run & Drinks
Agenda is simple - we'll head out around 6:30PM from Schoolyard for a fun run through the city finishing back at the Tavern to 'cool down'. Schoolyard will allow us to leave bags behind with personal items to change into afterwards (e.g., change of shirt). Read more

"Experienced runner (2 marathons, 2 half-marathons) looking to meet fellow runners"
-
"I used to do triathlons, had a pretty bad mt. biking injury. After a LONG hiatus from training [my hr monitor's battery has died in the process], I am trying to get back into the swing of things. My adopted schnauzer let's me know when it's time."
-
"I've always ran but this is the most involved I've ever been so I'm joining the group to improve. My goal is to be able to do a half marathon eventually. And it's a win-win situation - little bit o' running, little bit o' drinking. Perfect!"
-
"hey there--your group looks like a lot of fun. I did something similar with CARA for the Shamrock Shuffle and it was a blast. Not sure I can commit to both Monday and Wednesdays but I will definitely try to make one or the other. "
-
"I'm new to Chicago (just moved here in January). I like to run and drink beer (sometimes at the same time), so this group is perfect for me."
-
"Hi there! I actually don't live nearby, but would like to try to make it out sometime. Sounds like fun!"
-
"Hey there! Been in the Chicago for a couple years, and have enjoyed running the streets of the greatest city in the world for awhile now. Love everything outdoors, soccer, softball, rock climbing, skiing and RUNNING are what I do best. Go Cubs!"
-
"super concept. I look forward to meeting the brains behind this operation."
-
"Hello, I am in the last couple weeks of training for the 10 miler so I thought another running group would be great to transition into."
-
Here's a running log I created to track my training. Thought I would post it for anyone to use (if you find it useful). If you make any changes you think are beneficial - send it back to the group. Mike
